Bruce is an award winning animation that explores how advances in open-source synthetic biology allow a young man to grow his very own action hero from a lump of minced meat.
This short film is the result of Tom’s masters at the Royal College of Art. After 18 months of experimenting with microprocessors and eyebrow hats, Tom realised that he wanted to get a film under his belt before leaving the MA. His experimentation with the Arduino micro controller sparked the idea of programatic meat which led him directly into the very current ethical subject of Synthetic Biology.
Using a combination of Photoshop animation and 3D Tom was able to realise an exaggerated scenario where a human has seemingly lost his appreciation for Life.
Bruce has screened at film festivals around the world, picking up a number of awards and has recently gone on to be licensed for MTV’s Liquid Television show.
