The Doughboy, American icon and delightfully squishy mascot of the Pillsbury brand, has been loved by generations. So what a joy it was to animate this character after a freshly baked brand refresh. Hoo hoo!
In the first phase of the project, we created a 3D rigged, weighted and poseable character for the Pillsbury Doughboy that can be reposed and used across different software, by different teams, for different mediums. This flexibility was key to the brief, and our animation production workflows were geared towards meeting this project’s precise technical specifications and requirements.
We worked closely with JKR to ensure every detail aligned with the updated branding, from the shade of the dough to the swagger of the walk.
Once he was ready, we moved onto the animated assets (where the fun really starts!) We rose to the challenge and produced a logo animation and five animated stickers to liven up pics of scrumptious baked goods in the Pillsbury social feeds.
Working with a heritage character comes with as much responsibility as fun, so it was a proud moment seeing the animated Doughboy on Instagram with a string of lovely comments. We can’t wait to see where he pops up next!
