Drawing, moving and shaking for a new visual system

Whipping up a parade of illustrations and animations for Dropbox's new brand identity.

We were over the moon when Dropbox asked us to help pressure-test their illustration strategy, and later to work together on some of the final assets for their exciting new look across desktop and mobile. As well as illustrations, Dropbox were looking to bring the concepts to life through animation. We were only too happy to help with both elements!

The collaborative process started right from the beginning. We were invited to work alongside other selected illustrators for the pressure-testing week and experiment with their newly formed visual system, which kick-started an amazing creative journey with Dropbox's team of artists. After lots of versions and pinging ideas back and forth to ensure the finished pieces were absolutely on the button, we had a collection of cheerful characters full of hand-drawn, cut-and-paste energy.

Animade was a fantastic partner while exploring the possibilities and limits of what the Dropbox product illustration style could be. Whenever I want to make someone smile, all I need to do is show the animated giraffe that Animade created.

This project allowed Dropbox to communicate with its users in new ways, proving how powerful a communication tool illustration and animation can really be. And we think it certainly lives up to their brand philosophy: to make the everyday extraordinary.
